I Eat Therefore I Am

This is a very interesting documentary I saw at 6 Billion Ways. It provides an insight into the workings of global agricultural markets and explains how the liberalisation of these markets (by unaccountable international financial institutions) has caused millions of small-scale agricultural workers in the Global South to be forced from their land. Annually, millions are abandoning heir land – they simply cannot compete with multinational agribusiness companies who are flooding markets. The result – widespread urbanisation/shanty-townisation, massive food price increases and the destruction of generations of agricultural practice. Well worth the watch if you have a spare half an hour.
